According to papers filed in bankruptcy court (and originally discovered by our pals over at the Detroit News), the bills caught up to him and he had to ask the court for help. As of the date of filing, Kel owed $1.7 million.

And it gets worse, MediaTakeOut.com got its hands on the OFFICIAL bankruptcy documents which show that Kel is REALLY BROKE. According to court documents, he has only $20 in the bank, furniture worth only $500, his clothes (which are valued at $300), and an old SUV worth only $3,000 . . . and thats all his WORLDLY POSSESSIONS!!!

How is dude making ends meet? Well he's doing some voiceover work here and there - but it ain't MUCH. According to court records, he makes only $500 a month doing that.
