Former Commissioner of Police Lucius Thomas and Mayor of St. Ann's Bay Ivan Anderson are gearing up to do battle to represent the People's National Party (PNP) in the constituency of North West St. Ann.
Both men are the candidates for a selection conference which will take place this Sunday at the Brown's Town Community College.
This was confirmed on Tuesday night by PNP General Secretary, Peter Bunting.
"Yes, we are having a selection conference for Northwest St. Ann. There are two councilors former Commissioner Lucius Thomas and the mayor of St. Ann's Bay Ivan Anderson, we should have a result of this selection conference by late afternoon Sunday," Mr. Bunting said.
Our news centre has been informed that the former Police Commissioner and Mr. Anderson are now engaged in intense house-to-house campaigning in the constituency.
Mr. Thomas left the Jamaica Constabulary Force at the end of October 2007 after serving as Commissioner for two years and nine months.
Mr. Anderson has been Chairman of the St. Ann Parish Council since December 2007.
The successful candidate will replace Michael Whittingham who was the PNP's representative for the constituency.
The seat is currently held by the Jamaica Labour Party's Othneil Lawrence.
