Police sources from the St Catherine North Police Division say three of four men who were shot and killed in the Waterloo community of Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Wednesday were gang members.
Head of the division, Super-intendent Assan Thompson, says the dead men were reputed members of the 'Negus' gang which operates in the community.
Huntley Davis, 43, Everald Gordon and a man known only as 'Jimmy', both 50 years old, were shot dead on Wednesday afternoon after a group of armed men pounced upon them while they were in a section of the community.
An 18-year-old man was also reportedly shot and injured during the incident.
The police say the gang is headed by the division's most wanted man and bears his alias name.
'Negus' or 'Handsome', who is from Waterloo Villa, Spanish Town, is wanted for a number of murders, including a double murder in June, 2006.
Negus is also being linked to the flare-up in the Tredegar Park and Gravel Heights communities of the parish. He is being sought in connection with murders committed in both communities.
