A 52-year-old Farmer from Manchester has come forward and claimed the $240 million lotto jackpot, which has gone unclaimed since February.
He walked into Supreme Ventures Limited's (SVL) Kingston offices without notice yesterday and collected the record $240 million lotto jackpot that had been sitting idle for 49 days.
In a release from Supreme Ventures Ltd, it said the farmer claimed the prize today and knew he won from the day the draw was done. The farmer reportedly said in the release that when he heard the numbers he told his friends, he was going home to bath, eat and go to bed.
He said he then went home and signed the ticket and locked it away. He said he took so long to claim the February 21, 2010 draw as he decided to take some time and cool out. The farmer says he intends to invest majority of the money in real estate and farming, which is his first love.
After the 15 per cent tax, the farmer walked out with a cool $204 million.
Amid security concerns, SVL would only identify the winner as S. Gayle and released a heavily disguised picture of him posing with an oversized replica cheque.
