The Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine, Colin @#$an, wants the Portmore Municipal Council to take immediate steps to rid the communities in the constituency of mosquito infestation.

According to Mr. @#$an, the absence of routine drain cleaning programme has compounded the problem.

He says the affected communities are Bridgeport, Portsmouth and Portmore Gardens.

He says the mosquitoes are affecting domestic animals with many of them infected with heart worm, which is a direct result of mosquito bites.

The St Catherine M.P. is also calling on the Ministry of Health to intervene in the matter.
