Crooks tells his story from Canada

Former commandant of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) Harold Crooks who fled the island has revealed that hes in Canada.

The police have been searching for Mr. Crooks to question him in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Mr. Crooks called The Gleaner Power 106 News Centre last evening claiming that he wanted to give his side of the story.

It was reported on Monday that the police were asking Mr Crooks to contact the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse as part of an ongoing investigation.

The police high command says arrangements were made for Mr Crooks and his legal representative to meet with investigators, but they say he failed to turn up at the designated location.

They also said subsequent efforts to locate Mr. Crooks, including many visits to his house, were unsuccessful.

Yesterday, Mr. Crooks called our news centre following a report carried on our website.

He however was not willing to give us a contact number.

Mr. Crooks revealed that he had no intention of returning to Jamaica as he fears that he will not be given a fair hearing.

Mr. Crooks claims that the incident for which hes being sought by the police involves a 16- year- old girl with whom he had a brief relationship.

He says contrary to the reports which were made to the police he did not have sexual relations with the girl until after her sixteenth birthday and with her consent.

He also served as a special advisor to the national security ministry during the former Peoples National Party (PNP) administration
