Two toddlers died Tuesday afternoon in a fire which destroyed a house in the community of Western Park in Denbigh, Clarendon.

Three year old Dishane James and 5-year old Natania Smith were at home with their stepfather shortly before 5 o'clock when fire broke out inside the split level house. The children's stepfather, who was downstairs sleeping, was awakened by screams but was unable to save the youngsters who were trapped upstairs. Fire fighters were called to the scene but were unable to save Dishane and Natania. Their charred remains were later removed from the gutted building.
