The Mandeville police are urging the public to be on the look out for a man who has been falsely seeking sponsorship from business persons for a roof repair project at the Mandeville Infant School.
The man has reportedly been offering 'fish fry' tickets for sale while claiming that proceeds will go to the project.
Veronica Peart-Johnson, principal of the Mandeville Infant School, told THE STAR that there is no such project at the school and as such is urging persons not to support the 'false event'.
According to Peart-Johnson, school officials were made aware of the scam over the weekend after a woman from the parish contacted the president of the school's Parent Teacher's Association and questioned the project.
The woman was just about to purchase a ticket for $1000.
"The man tried to sell her a ticket and she decided to call our P.T.A president because she knows him and he told her there was no such project," Peart-Johnson said.
The Mandeville police who were subsequently informed say they are urging persons who may have purchased tickets to make a report and give information so that the accused man can be apprehended.
