Residents of March Pen Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, are calling for a police or military post in the community following the murder of a disabled man and the injuring to two others yesterday.

Michael 'Prayer' Dixon, 35, a labourer from March Pen Road, is the latest casualty of a gang feud between men from an area in a community called 'Big Tree' and another section called 'Africa'.

"Too much soldiers up a camp nah do nutten fi wi a suffa from gunman, so send dem here mek them and di police dem protect wi. A post is needed here man," an elderly resident said as police cleared the crime scene.

"I just can't believe them really come kill 'Mikey' afta dem cripple him and put him inna wheelchair it really sticky man," said a woman.

Reports are that about 10 a.m. Dixon went to a nearby cookshop where he purchased meals. While there, men with high-powered weapons approached and fired shots repeatedly, hitting him and two other people. Police said Dixon died on the spot while the others were taken to hospital.

Police told THE STAR that the incident occurred on what is essentially the borderline between the warring communities.
