Wanted gang leader killed

The police have killed one of the men who has been wanted for sometime now for serious crimes.

Rupert Killer Miller Wallace was shot dead this morning by members of the Joint Task Force in the Stanton Housing Scheme near Morant Bay, St. Thomas.

Its reported that the team went to the Stanton Housing Scheme in search of Wallace and his cronies.

Some members of the team reportedly positioned themselves around the house where it was believed Wallace was staying while others entered.

Wallace who was armed with a Tang Folio 9 mm pistol, reportedly tried to escape by leaving through a backdoor.

The police say in his bid to escape Wallace fired several rounds at them and they returned the fire.

The police say they seized the Folio 9 mm pistol along with three 9 mm rounds.

The gun and the ammunition have since been sent to the Forensic Laboratory.

Killer Miller was suspected to be involved in a number of crimes including murder and extortion.

He is known to be one of the major gang leaders of the remnants of the clique previously run by Joel Andem in Eastern St. Thomas.

Wallace had been convicted for the murder of gas station operator Sylvia Edwards.
Mrs Edwards was kidnapped in 2000 and when a ransom was not met she was killed.

Following an appeal, in 2006 the Privy Council ordered that the murder should be retried.

The case is still before the Courts.
