According to sources Jamaican Dancehall Artiste and alleged Community leader Mikey Pelpa, whose real name is Michael Lynch was among a group of men onboard a failed boat trip Tuesday that left one person dead.
The incident has resulted in a Bahamian man being charged with human smuggling while four others were charged with illegal re-entry into the United States.
Reports are that a police helicopter spotted the 28-foot Intrepid boat in the water off Black Point Marina on Tuesday night and followed it. As authorities tried to stop the boat, those onboard jumped into the water and tried to swim. The body of a 28-year-old Jamacian man was found in the water about 30 feet from shore.
Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE took the men into custody.
ICE special agents also seized about 60 pounds of marijuana they found on the boat inside a duffle bag.
A criminal complaint charged Davon Rolle, 19, with alien smuggling.
Charged with illegal re-entry: David Coore, 27, of Jamaica; Delroy Coombs, 45, of Jamaica; Mathura Bridgelal, 50, of Trinidad; and Tyrel Levarity, 23, of the Bahamas.
A sixth suspect, a 24-year-old man from the Bahamas, was charged with violating immigration law and is being held by ICE. A seventh man was released by authorities.
