A Manchester policeman is being held in the Mandeville lock-up, after he was pointed out as being one of three men involved in the robbery and rape of a woman at a bar in the parish.
The policeman, a constable, who works at the Mandeville Police Station, has been in custody since last week's incident. The Mandeville police confirmed that one of their colleagues was in custody in connection with a rape and robbery but declined to give further details.
It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the men entered the bar, slapped the woman in her face and punched her all over her body. She was then robbed and raped.
Reports reaching THE STAR are that the female pointed out the policeman as one of three men who entered the bar she operated, beat, robbed and raped her, before leaving.
Meanwhile, Corporal Courtney Gibbs from the Constabulary Communication Network confirmed that the officer was indeed under investigation. He said, "I can confirm that the police officer was involved in a rape/robbery incident. He is in police custody, but he has not yet been charged. A file is currently being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions."
