A Portmore man who decided to ease his water woes by stealing a 400-gallon water tank, was sentenced to three days in prison in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green was Samora Smidth, a 29-year-old Causeway resident.
The court was told that on February 2, at about 7 p.m., Smidth was caught near the Portmore Mall with the tank. The owners called the police and the accused was charged with simple larceny.
When the case came up for mention, the accused caused laughter inside the court.
"How did you move such a large container?" RM Dunbar-Green asked.
"Your honour due to the dry spell a buy wi affi buy wata, mi si di drum and decide to take it to help store water," Smidth replied.
He was then sentenced by the judge who told him that he must see things and leave them.
