A doctor and a female security guard were arrested in Trelawny for their alleged involvement in the abortion of a foetus by a 15-year-old girl.
Their names have not been released, as charges have not yet been laid against them. The two accused are in custody and no station bail was being considered up to late last night.
The doctor was picked up at his office by a police party and escorted to the lock-up, while the security officer was arrested on Tuesday evening after she turned up at the station.
Her 20-year-old son is being sought by the police, as he was accused of impregnating the underaged teenage girl last year and this year.
THE WEEKEND STAR has been informed that sometime last year, the teenage girl became pregnant. The security officer, having been informed that her son was the likely father; allegedly sought the assistance of a doctor and an abortion was performed without the knowledge of the girl's mother.
Recently, the girl's mother realised that her daughter is now pregnant and upon investigating, discovered what had happened last year. The police were informed and following intensive investigations, the doctor, who is in his 40s and the security officer in her 30s, were arrested.
The accused persons could be charged soon while the child is now in the care of the state.
