LIVERPOOL, England (AP) -- Everton striker Jo was suspended for an undetermined period by manager David Moyes on Friday for returning to Brazil without permission.

On a season's loan from Manchester City, Jo has been sidelined with a knee injury but Moyes is furious the striker went home without consulting him.

"Jo went without permission to Brazil and he's therefore been suspended from the club," Moyes said ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third-round game against Carlisle.

"I am disappointed in him because he's done well for us, but it is an internal matter and it has been dealt with that way."
