A loose-tongued cabbie from Falmouth, Trelawny, who is alleged to have performed oral sex on a schoolgirl and later boasted about the act with friends, has found himself on the wrong side of the law after the incident reached the ears of the police.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the man was picked up and charged last week after the minor's parents made a report to the police.
A police source from the parish said that "apparently the taxi man had performed oral sex on the girl and he went back to tell other people about it, surprisingly".
sexual exploits
The source continued: "The minor then heard that the cabbie was telling their business, she got upset and so she told her parents about what had happened." The report was then made to the police.
THE STAR understands that the driver was arrested afterwards. Subsequent to that, two others who were implicated in similar cases of illegal sexual exploits with minors, were also arrested and charged. All three men are expected to appear in court tomorrow.
Residents from Falmouth have also said that since the arrest of the three men last week, some six other cabbies have been missing in action, a rumour that the police said they heard as well.
"It's the talk on the street and in the taxis," the police source said. "People are saying that about six of the taxi men on the Falmouth route have left town since the arrest because of alleged involvement with minors and fearing they too would be caught, we don't know if this is the case though."
THE STAR was told that the taxi men usually take the minors, sometimes as young as 14-year-old, to a beach in Falmouth known as "Durwood" where the sexual acts would be carried out. However, in recent times increased police presence in that area has resulted in the sex seekers finding havens elsewhere.
The source said that the police would be doing further investigations into the matters and would not be letting any law-breaking cabbies off the hook.
