An angry husband in Burnt Ground, St Elizabeth, chased his wife with a machete and eventually hurled items at her on Sunday after complaining that she cooked too much tin mackerel.
Information reaching THE STAR is that residents watched and even ran with the man as he tried desperately to catch up with his speedier counterpart who kept on crying for 'murder'.
"Dem people deh come een like poppy show yaw man," one witness, Devon said.
THE STAR heard that the husband, a taxi driver, arrived home in a hungry state and was greeted with a meal of mackerel and white rice.
This angered the man who expressed disgust at the meal, which was quite different from the chicken and rice and peas most Jamaicans are used to on Sundays.
There was a clash of words between the couple and in a matter of moments residents said the wife was seen running from the house, with her enraged spouse waving a machete and giving chase.
The residents watched as the two ran through the community. "Di man kinda fat an him wife slim, slim, slim so him neva ketch har," Devon said.
When the husband realised he had no chance of catching his partner, he began throwing stones and other objects at her.
After the incident, the man, while complaining, showed the residents the meal that got him frustrated. "Di man show we di pot a food weh him lick off a di stove and seh him tired fi eat dat," said another resident Marie.
When THE STAR contacted the Lacovia police, a corporal said they heard of the incident but there were no injuries so a formal report was not made.
