There is a Extremely religous Muslim Sri Lankan guy at my job who listens to ambient Indian music all day and he hardly has good english skills. He never spoke out of turn and always apologized for any action even if it was the right one. He was very quiet and feared authority to the point where it became a huge fault for him. He overheard mus rich by addi on giants riddim at work one day and something changed. He asked for a copy of it and went back to his desk. A few hours later I walked through the little room they have him in where he cleans cameras and I heard it playing. He was humming along. An hour later I come back downstairs and its still playing. I continued to leave him in thiz zone and went back to my desk. At the end of the day he awakened. He went into the story of the song and could not stop talking about it. He no longer asked! He DEMANDED I make him a CD of all Addi tunes like this. I made him a 127 track CD. The next day his voice was louder, his passion began to show, and he became taller. I didnt hear a sorry yesterday, I didnt see the same person.  The Warrior within is starting to shine through, and it's all because of Addi. How someone can curse him is beyond belief.

well like i said 127 tunes, so they all cant be progressive/activist tunes, i wonder what will change boutv him if he starts listening to teh war tunes and gallis ones, i may have created a monster, i'll get back to you all on that. lol

different artist have effect on different ppl, its not just addi alone,look what 2pac and eminem have done, music is a funny thing yuh know, depends on the mood, how it relates to everyone, probably its not such the artist in general, u said he listen his genre of music, maybe it was the type of music that changed this behaviour

ppl who look on this from a gaza gully perspective are just plain stupid, this a wide topic and has no boundaries

one edit i did was a gaza gully thing at teh end, but i cut it because @ pun, I agree with you about no boundaries, but i will also say that plenty of hip hop has been played on teh same system we pump music intot he warehouse with. it was that one tune, the lyrics, not the sound, that a person who barely knows english was able to give me a full report about teh tune at teh end of the day. forget subliminal messages, he saw it clar as day what he must do to be a bigger man. His fears are shrinking, if it do to the one song or by another artist, it still happened and is amazing to witness, especially in this magnitude

and by no means did i say in any way he has become violent, he is a smart man, just binded by his fears, he voices his opinion since that day. I remember mosh by eminem had a similar affect on me and i thought emninem would lead an army, but it was all fake. addi seems a tad more real than your avg mainstream artist, no? yeah some tunes are for publiccity like his war tunes vs singjays and djs, but he has a whole heap a concious tunes. the system, life we livin (video is mad btw), hustle hard, compliant (on snypa way - cobra), no nine night, babylon city, nah hold we down, and so many more. ive read reports that adddi actually helps the less fortunate, i think addi pours his heart into a lot of these tunes and its more powerful than any eminem tune, im not gonna say better than 2pac, just different, but equally as good id say. Addi has an opportunity to do more than he is doing, im sure, but I'd say he is the most powerful and charismatic artist of this era of reggae/dancehall.

thats the differnence between a artist and a civil activist. At least Addi has made strides towards the positive side, but he has that edge that wont let anyone get the best of him. Do you think he is out causing the drama or does it attract to him because he is so good, because there is noone as talented as him right now? Nbody can produce as many versitle songs as him. he hits every side of life at you. he represents the negative sides of life, and takes a beating for it from the media because he expresses what everyone else is feels. a mad man will like his mad tunes, a gallis will like his born straight, ramping shop tunes, a sri lankan who never heard of raggae will like his activist tunes, and so on, he does tunes for everyone, wheni listen to gun tunes its a stress relief.

and 1 more thing, how would jamaica look at addi if he stepped away from the war? and if alliance member and followers are reading this, you think addi is the only one to fault. I admit ish gets crazy and yeah its a big money maker, adn so is being an nba star. we dont live in a communnist state, we have freedom of voice and to express however the hell we want to, and some will like it and some will not or all will  or all will not. there is pride, there are the financial benefits, there is the stardom, but there also has to be the common people, the fans, respect, leadership through words, war is inevitable in any country/ state / province/ village, the way of the world. all leaders have killed to get to the top. its a system within the system, you either go live in the woods or full engage yourself in all the benefits of capitalism. Just dont forget the people who support you. war is war
