Popular hip hop portal allhiphop.com is reporting today that dancehall deejay Beenie Man has signed a joint-venture deal with Brookland Entertainment/Universal Republic, a New York-based independent record label. Beenie Man was previously signed to Virgin Records, and according to the report, he cited the need for freedom to dictate his musical direction as the motivation behind him signing for a independent record label. Hes quoted as saying being signed to a major label, you lose creative control.
