18 years' hard labour for gun inciden

The second of two men who shot and injured a man at a nightclub two years ago was sentenced to serve 18 years hard labour in the Gun Court on Friday.

He is Germaine Litchmore of Passagefort Drive, Portmore, St Catherine. His accomplice Dwayne Brisco, also of a Passagefort address, was sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment on March 3 this year.

According to Detective Constable Llewellyn Madden of the Waterford Police Station, in April 2007, the men went to the Cool Breeze Nightclub in Portmore where they were told that a woman had been in a dispute with a male inside the club.

It is reported that the men went inside the club, brandished handguns and fired shots hitting the complainant who made a report to the police.

Both men were held and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and shooting with intent.

The men were sentenced by Justice Brian Sykes.
