Having been featured in several dance videos, including Elephant Man's Gully Creepa and RDX's Dancers Anthem, LA Squad say they hope this year will be the one that puts them in line with the big names.
The Kingston-based group comprises three members, George Riley, Kemar Dennis and Ranell Dunkley, who are now in the process of promoting their new dances.
"Right now we have two new dances, Thrilla and Show Off, dem a come lock di place. Di greatest thing, dem easy fi duh, suh it a go catch on," said Riley, who is also the group leader.
LA squad got their first real break when their dance, LA LA, was featured in RDX's Dancers Anthem. Since then, it has been brighter days for the group.
"From wi get the buss inna da video deh, things start fi get better. Wi guh pon a tour recently inna some schools and the response was tremendous. Some wanted pictures with us and autographs, it felt really good," said Dennis, a past student of Camperdown High School.
tek it to the world
The members all agree that their main aim is not to make money, but to expose their talent to the world - this, they say, will come in due time.
"Yeah man, when our time come fi buss big, wi a go ready fi it. We want people to see our styles, because like most dancers and dancer groups, we are unique," Dunkley pointed out.
"An' success nuh just come suh, but wi have the right people inna wi corner, Dancehall Reggae.com, Shelly Belly and the Dutty Friday crew, dem a help pilot wi career, dem a gi wi nuff exposure," Riley added.
