At Andrew shootout: 3 police injured, 'most wanted' gunman killed

THREE police officers are hospitalised and an alleged gunman shot dead following a shootout at a house owned by reggae star Luciano at Westminister Crescent in St Andrew early this morning.
The dead man has been identified as 37-year-old Andrew Senior, a man who was on the St Andrew North police most wanted list.
One of the lawmen, who was shot in the mouth, was rushed into surgery and has since been listed in serious condition, while the others are nursing gunshot wounds to the leg and groin, police said.
Luciano, whose real name is Jephter McLymont, was not at the house during the incident but was arrested and interrogated after he turned up at the residence during the gunfight.
According to the police, the singer could be charged with harbouring a wanted fugitive.
He has been taken into custody; he is being questioned at the Half-Way-Tree Police Station. He could face charges of harbouring a fugitive at the bare minimum, Head of the St Andrew North Police Division, Superintendent Anthony Morris told reporters at the crime scene today.
The incident, which started about 5:00 am, ended shortly after 7:00 am when police broke down a door to the entertainers house and eliminated Senior, who they said was wanted for at least half a dozen murders in several police divisions.
Police say they went to the house in search of Senior but were met with a volley of shots.
One cop was shot as he attempted to peer through a window. He was surprised by the gunmen who shot him in the face. The other two officers were shot as they attempted to flush the gunman from the house.
A policeman on the crime scene said Senior taunted them as their colleagues lay bleeding.
Him say unu come in because me have enough bullet for all of unnu, the cop told the Observer.
The cops were handicapped because of the presence of the entertainers spouse and children inside the house.
He was eventually killed after he let the woman and children out before barracading himself inside the house.
