A man accused of breaking into a shop at White Hall in Negril, Westmoreland, was yesterday morning beaten and stabbed to death by a mob of angry residents.

Dead is Ransford 'Junior' Clarke, 48, of White Hall, Negril.

Police reports are that about 3 a.m., Clarke was at White Hall Estate when he was pounced upon by a group of men, who accused him of breaking into a shop in the community. The men attacked and stabbed him several times. He died on the spot.

The body was taken to the morgue after police had been called to the scene.
