A policeman stationed at the Ocho Rios police station in St Ann and his son who were charged with breaches of Corruption Prevention Act were freed today.
Resident Magistrate Carol Edwards upheld a no case submissions at the end of the Crown's case.
Sergeant Noel Morgan and his son Morelando were freed following submissions by Howard Hamilton Q.C. and attorney-at-law Errol Taylor.
The lawyers submitted that there was an irreconcilable breakdown of identification.
The lawyers pointed out that the complainant Maurice Robinson claimed that Sgt. Morgan was held during a sting operation while the policemen confirmed that they held his son.
After the men were freed the Resident Magistrate directed that the complainant, a garage operator, should be charged with larceny of the motorcar, which allegedly resulted in the arrests of the Morgans.
The Morgans were charged following a sting operation in St Ann in March last year in which it was alleged that money was paid for a larceny case against Robinson to be dropped.
