Investigators in St Andrew are now probing the circumstances under which a man was shot and wounded by the police in Half Way, St Andrew this afternoon.
The full details surrounding the incident are still not clear but its understood that it has caused traffic jam in Half Way Tree.
The Gleaner/Power 106 News has learnt that the man was shot after he pulled a knife and attacked a policeman just outside the transport centre.
An eyewitness told our News Centre that around 4:20 p.m. a policeman was attempting to quell a dispute among a group of students.
The policeman was reportedly chasing the students when his cellular phone fell.
The eyewitness said the policeman turned back to retrieve his phone which was picked up by the man.
The man reportedly refused to hand over the phone and a dispute developed between the two.
Its reported that the man pulled a knife and attacked the lawman when he was shot twice.
