Nikki Z heads to NY radio station

Radio and entertainmentpersonality Nikki Z is moving on to bigger and better things as she recently landed a job on Irie Jam Radio that will see the diva moving back to New York.

Despite having been suspended from Zip FM and taken off front-line duties recently, as well as having been charged for possession of marijuana, things are finally beginning to look up for the popular entertainment personality.

Cool job

she explained that she was hoping to move back to New York by the March 1. She said: "The job with Irie Jams is completely cool. Before I moved here, I had tried doing some work with them and the cool thing about it is that now they are moving to broadcast outside of New York and will be doing a lot of work in Jamaica as well."

Irie Jam Radio, in partnership with Black Emperor Entertainment, delivers Jamaican music to millions of Caribbean nationals living in the United States. The station maintains its #1 position as a Caribbean-American programme, and recently launched a national television programme, Irie TV.

According to Nikki Z, this new job will allow her a number of opportunities to branch into other avenues in music and media and will also allow her to be closer to her family, especially her mother who has been battling with cancer.

Stay connected

Still, the diva says that she will always be connected to Jamaica where she began working over two years ago.

"My hope is to come back to Jamaica like once a month, I love the two places for different reasons, the atmosphere in Jamaica is just so calming, I'll miss that and, of course, my fans. Promoters can definitely still book me to emcee shows and we're working on still trying to keep my voice on ZIP because they are my family regardless of what happened," she said.

The presenter is excited about the opportunity where she will also be working with noted disc jocks such as Java and Dubmaster who work with Irie Jam. She is also currently working on a project with BET Jazz on a pilot project for Real Productions.

"I'm working with them on a show based on different people living different types of lifestyles," she said.

Fans in Jamaica can still hear and see their diva Nikki Z on Irie Jams' website.
