The sexiness that is LisaRaye recently sat down with Bossip amidst her divorce dealings to update us on Da Brat, and why she didnt quite understand why shes a shonuff MILF:

Bossip: Most men have put you into that sexy iconic space a la Pam Grier. Do you subscribe to it?
LisaRaye: At the beginning it was like sex symbol? What is it about me thats sexy? I used to think that sexy was more for older women. Like, you would find the ladies on Dynasty, sexy. I would try to figure that out. I would ask, what do find thats sexy about me? They would say its the way that you eat. The way that you walk. So, I would try to watch myself walk in the mirror. But, I think that we dont want to know what sexy is because if its what youre doing, then just continue to do what youre doing. I think Angelina Jolie has put it into perspective for me because shes a younger woman she has a sex appeal about her. I think its just you being. So if being a sex symbol is what they tag me to be, I dont see it as a bad thing. I grasp that, even in my first lady role.

Bossip: Alright, lets switch gears. How is the Da Brat doing?
LisaRaye: Shes doing wonderful and she actually has a very high spirit. Which surprising to me because sometimes I call her and I try to kick it up a few notches. Shes found some hidden talents that she didnt know she had. Shes getting her mind and body and spirit in sync.

Bossip: When is she getting out?
LisaRaye: She was given three years and it hasnt even been six months yet. We may be able to get some time off for good behavior, I dont really know how the system works so. ..

Bossip: A while back there was some controversy when Katt Williams was trying to call out Jermaine Dupri for not getting in touch with Da Brat at all. Can you speak about that?
LisaRaye: I know anything about that. This is the first time that Im hearing it. Jail calls have to be received from a landline, so if youre running like Jermaine does and like Im doing then you often miss that call. I miss a lot of her calls as well. With the time difference, he doesnt know when shes gonna be able to call.

Bossip: What are some of the talents shes discovered since shes been locked up?
LisaRaye: Shes knows how to draw. Actually, very well.

Bossip: What toll has her incarceration taken on you?
LisaRaye: When you think about anybody being In a small room for the majority of the day, its like how do you grow from that. Mostly, I keep thinking about the lesson learned and the level of comfort in which shell feel with trying to figure out how that happened, why it happened and what can she do to prevent it. Sometimes you need something to happen to make you stand still and smell the roses. You have to learn from your mistakes. I tell everyone especially kids, dont be afraid to make mistakes because those mistakes make you stronger.

Bossip: Gotcha. Whats going on with this Datari Turner cat you were seen with at the NAACP awards?
LisaRaye: Datari and I are friends. He and I were with the same publicist years ago. Were actually selling a show together.

Bossip: So you guys are not dating?
LisaRaye: Unfortunately girl, no. That fine chocolate thang. Im more like his big sister.

Bossip: Would you date a younger guy?
LisaRaye: If hes mature. I need him to be mature and stable.

Bossip: Have you ever had any crazy run ins with a male fan?
LisaRaye: It was at the amphitheatre in Universal Studios. All of the rappers were there and I believe Steve Harvey was hosting and they had different celebrities come up on the stage and introduce different acts. Backstage, one of the rappers guys, part of his posse, came up to me and said Oh my God, I cant believe Im meeting you in person! You a bad ass bitch. I was like oookay. Thats when you do have to go into your sister girl realness because I knew what he meant. It wasnt a bad thing. Girl, I got ready to turn around and walk away and he smacked me on my butt. It stung. Every rapper in there got on him from Snoop to E-40. Steve Harvey had him in the room and they were like You dont do a woman like that. Man, shes a mother. Shes not in the movies. That aint Diamond. I remember Snoop saying, You can do anybody else up in here, but not LisaRaye! I felt very respected and loved by the street guys and the rappers. I felt that love. But, the fellas made him apologize to me and he was so apologetic.

Bossip: How do you feel like your image was portrayed in the media during your divorce fiasco?
LisaRaye: I didnt keep a close eye on what was being said. I think what made me realize that a lot was going on, was when paparazzi started following me. I was like what a minute Ive never been this type of celebrity where they really gave a damn about where I am and where Im getting my eyebrows arched. My mindset was more on exactly what I was going through. When I started hearing the news, I knew that I needed to maintain my silence because first of all, I didnt want to lose my cool. Second of all I understand the image and trying to respect the image of the first lady of Turks and Caicos Islands. Theres a level of maturity that you reach with hardship, so with that, I was getting my grown woman on. The Lisa Raye that we know would have said, Nigga, I dont love you like this to be going through all this bullsh*t. But, the first lady and the wife of the premier had to handle this situation totally different.

Cut to now, my husband is still under investigation for corruption and dishonesty AND an investigation for rape. I had to hear all of the evidence myself because I didnt know what was going on. When I heard all of that evidence that I had never head, I felt bam***bozled. I felt like it was a ploy and a plan to have me do what he wanted me to do for him. He had a plan and I didnt know the plan. To me its like, if youre playing a game at least give me the rules so I can know how to play. In hearing that I decided that my people Hollywood- deserve to know whats going on so they can even figure out how to support me.
