Despite rumors that Chris Brown's alleged assault of his girlfriend Rihanna was sparked by flirtation with British singer Leona Lewis or a text message from Keisha Chante, both women are distancing themselves from the scandal. WENN released a statement by Lewis' spokesman, saying, "Leona was at the pre-Grammy party with her family and boyfriend and had nothing whatsoever to do with any argument that may have ensued between Chris and Rihanna. Any allegations that the pair had flirted are completely false." Brown and Rihanna were both in attendance at the pre-Grammy party. Minutes later, after the pair left the party, police received an emergency call indicating that Brown had beaten an unnamed woman. Reports suggested that Rihanna was the victim in the attack, and was allegedly hospitalized for her resulting injuries. Some speculated that the assault was caused by a text message from singer/actress Keisha Chante, who has been romantically linked to Brown in recent rumors. Chante's manager told Us magazine that her client barely knows Brown
This is another unsubstantiated, untrue report; she was nowhere near the incident in any way. She was nowhere near Rihanna or Chris Brown. She had nothing to do with any of that.... I think they met a few years back, probably three or four years ago in Canada. But that's it. It's crazy -- there's been a continuous kind of reporting of them linked together, and this has been the worst of it all. But, no -- she had absolutely nothing to do with them or any of that."
