It was all about music and fashion at the Youthlink sponsored Youth View Awards on Saturday night at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
Being about the 'young, hot and hype', artistes and youths came out looking ready to rock the red carpet after 6 pm.
Male artistes like DJ Nicholas and Voicemail looked elegant in full suits while others went for a more youthful look in vests. Women such as Tifa, as well as sisters Tessane and Tami Chynn, looked elegant in black dresses, while dancer Keiva went all out in a gold gown and singer Raine Seville stood out in a colourful blue dress.
Red carpet
The event started on the red carpet as the artistes were interviewed by Intense as they entered, while music from Coppershot kept the vibe alive.
Performances from DASECA's first lady Raine Seville started off the night as she drew the crowd to the stage, singing Drive Me Crazy. Kahlil followed with the theme song to Fresh Prince of Bel Air, while Chino had the crowd singing along to Protected and We Nuh Like Dem. Laden and RDX moved their performances on the actual red carpet with Time to Shine and Dance respectively, as the dancers showed off the latest moves.
Inside, the venue was elegantly decorated with a small VIP section and, although the venue was not jam packed, the crowd maintained the vibe throughout the night.
D'Angel started off the night with a sizzling performance of Stronger and First Lady, accompanied by dancers. The artiste looked lovely in a gold dress, which she slipped out of on stage to reveal a little white shorts outfit. Hosts Voicemail and Pepetta Little from Intense did a good job making jokes and easily held the attention of the audience. Aside from a few technical difficulties and delays the show went well.

Other than performances from the likes of Etana, Tifa, Laden, SOP a crowd pleasing Tami Chynn and an energetic Goddy Goddy with Chakka Chai Chai, the dancers also took centre stage. Ding Dong, Keiva, Mad Michelle and Shelly Belly made a tribute to the recently deceased dancer Ice, doing his signature 'gully creepa' and other dance moves. Shady Squad did an excellent set with a choreographed piece as well as an exciting dance off with S.L.I.
As the show ended after 11pm, audience members moved to the back of the venue where the after-party was blazing with Coppershot spinning some of dancehall's finest hit tunes.
