The search for two men who went missing while swimming at the Frenchmans Cove Beach in Portland yesterday is expected to resume this morning.
They are 25 year old Gerald Thomas and Andre Mair both of a Kingston 6 address.
The Port Antonio police said Thomas and Mair were among 16 persons from Kingston who were on a beach trip to the parish.
Four of them reportedly swam beyond the boundary line, which marks the end of the area persons are allowed to swim.
The police said the men got into difficulties due to the rough condition of the sea.
According to the police one of the men managed to swim back to shore while another was rescued by a lifeguard.
However, a search by members of the coast guard and a Jamaica Defence Force helicopter for the others had to be called off late yesterday evening because of high wind and poor visibility.
