While he slept like a baby, the licensed firearm of a well-known member of parliament was stolen from close to him in the bedroom of his upscale house on Tuesday.
THE STAR has learnt that some time between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., while the politician was off in dreamland at his St Andrew home, the perpetrator entered his room and stole his firearm, along with two cellular phones and their chargers. The slick thief also made off with a quantity of the politician's jewellery.
Alarm
The items were only discovered missing when the politician woke up after the thief had long gone. An alarm was raised and the police contacted.
It has been theorised by the police that the obviously light-footed thief crept into the politician's room after he climbed a balcony.
The police do not yet know the serial number for the firearm, as the politician was unable to provide it at the time of their visit.
When THE STAR contacted the Constant Spring police, a policeman admitted that investigations were ongoing, but would not give any details on the incident.
