Illegal firearms, ammo seized

The Denham Town Police in Kingston West on Sunday seized 19 rounds of ammunition during a special operation along Raphael Avenue, Kingston 13. No one was arrested during the seizure.

Police say about 9 a.m. a team on special operation along Raphael Avenue searched a premises and found the ammunition in an outside bathroom.

Illegal firearm

Meanwhile, the Kingston East Police seized an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition at Maiden Street, Kingston 16, on Sunday night. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Police reports are that about 11:50 p.m., the Kingston East Police were on patrol in the Franklyn Town area. On reaching the intersection of Williams and Maiden Streets, a group of men were seen. One man from the group walked off on to Maiden Street.

Held and searched

This aroused the suspicion of the police and they went after him. He was held and searched, but nothing found in his possession. The lawmen then searched several premises at Maiden Street and the weapon - a Beretta 9mm pistol and 26 rounds of ammunition - was found.

Detectives from the Elletson Road CIB are investigating.
