A binman has been told that a bundle of cut-up £10 and £20 notes he found in a bin can be exchanged for new ones if he can piece the bits together.
Police launched an investigation after Graham Hill, of Gainsborough, discovered the money, estimated to be about £10,000, in Lincoln's City Square.
The force gave him the money back when no-one came forward to claim it.
