A 17-year-old charged in connection with the killing of his classmate at Dunoon Park Technical High School is to appear in the Family Court on Friday.
The teen is charged with the murder of Shevon Johnson, 16. The accused appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday and the matter was transferred to the Family Court.
The teen's lawyers, Tom Tavares-Finson and Marlon Gilbert Roberts, are expected to file a bail application for the accused then.
Knife was used to stab
Allegations are that about 9:45 a.m. on November 17, Johnson and the accused were in class when a dispute developed between them over a cellular phone battery. The dispute escalated into a fight, during which a knife was used to stab Johnson twice. He died on the spot.
It is further alleged that the accused tried to flee after the incident but was held by the Jamaica Constabulary Force's school resource officer.
