SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Inmate Jack Alderman faces lethal injection in Jackson at 7 p.m. Tuesday for killing his wife in 1974. Barbara Jean Alderman's family says it will be justice for her, but they will always live with the circumstances of her death. Her older sister, Rhetta Braddy of Rincon, says Alderman's execution will not end the family's pain.
Barbara Alderman was 20 when she was killed Sept. 21, 1974. Jack Alderman, now 57, initially was convicted and sentenced to die on June 15, 1975. An appeal led to a death sentence again in 1984. Corrections spokesman Paul Czachowski says Alderman will remain in his cell until he moves to a holding cell next to the death chamber Tuesday afternoon.
