Creative People Incorporated are the latest members of the Portmore Empire generating buzz in the Dancehall Game. The talented duo first came to attention with Gun Thing featuring the enigmatic Bushman and Ras Goudie, a real gem of a song decrying the countrys incredibly high murder rate.
But now, they have raised the stakes with their latest song, a hardcore dancehall track called Ah Your P--y, F--k Who You Waan that touts female sexual liberation to realize that these guys have a hell of a career ahead of them
The duo consists of Wayne Meanis Rose and Shawn Wanted Reynolds, who both both hail from a tough section of Seaview Gardens called Vietnam located in phase one of that community. They were both members of the Wanted Squad, which originally had seven members, but has been winnowed down to two.
Some of the man dem gone foreign, some get nine to five jobs, others get families they have to support, but we ah stick it out, Meanis explained.
The two men have known each there for several years and they both used to shoot fish in Lime Cay, Morant Cay and even Honduras before they decided to take on music full time. Its a good thing they did because this talented singer/dj c****ination are also skilled songwriters who have a bright future in dancehall and reggae music.
After the Wanted Squad disintegrated, Meanis and Wanted met Mr. Lex and changed their name to CP Inc. in 2002, and recorded their first single, Sunday to Sunday for Stone Love on the Rooster Riddim, but which never really took off. They continued to hone their songwriting abilities and train their voices and they got their first big break when they recorded Gun Thing with Bushman and Ras Goudie in 2005. The song gave them some buzz in the streets and did well overseas, hitting the #1 spot on the reggae charts in Hawaii.
That song was also very popular in Europe, Wanted said.
The duo has continued to record and began to make some noise with No Little Gal Caan Trick Me for producer Tristan Palmer on the Have Mercy Riddim on Star Creation Label.
Now, CP Inc. is under the astute management of Gary Exodus the duo is poised for greatness.
Before, we never really had the backative to get our music out and promote it the right way, we just never got the attention we needed but we never get boo on a stage show yet, we always represent, Meanis said.
They performed once in Antigua in 2004 where they wowed their audience with a high-energy performance. The duo graced the stage at Sting in 2003 working a c****ination with Lexus, and have made appearances at Spring Break in 2004 and has been a fixture at the St. Bess Festival, working there for three consecutive years since 2004.
Other standout songs of CP Inc. are Tired ah the Killing in the Ghetto for the Star Creation label, and their latest mixtape and street dance hit, Ah Your Love Gal, Give Who Yu Waan Give.
That song is in heavy rotation in the street dances, ah crazy dubplates we ah do for it. We know it is a hardcore song, but CP Inc. is many things, we are versatile but we can do the hardcore dancehall as well as the cultural, conscious songs like the latest Bigger Heads on the Magical riddim, Wanted explained.
With the buzz from their singles, the demand for CP Inc.s services has escalated and the dup is booked to appear on Teflons Yard-a-Love show on Emancipation Day, August 1; Summer Swing in Clarendon on August 2; Beenie Man Sizzle on August 6th in Clarendon; a show called Dem No Posh Like We in Rock Hall, St. Andrew on August 9 and on Champions in Action on August 16th.
Were ready fi take on the road wicked and get our career to the next level, the whole ah Seaview believe inna we, and it is going to happen, Meanis said.
Under the guidance of Gary Exodus since 2006, the duo may have to rechristen themselves with a new tagline for their names, just call them Cash Printed in Ink.
