The fatal shooting of a teenager by the police in Linstead, St Catherine, on Tuesday night, caused residents of Zepherton to mount a roadblock on the main road, protesting against the police version of the incident.
Roadblock
For several hours, motor vehicles travelling on the busy thoroughfare were held up as the residents used debris to block the road, which was eventually cleared.
Dead is Ramdeen Hall, 16, of Victoria district.
Residents claimed that the police mistook Ramdeen for someone else and he was shot dead in cold *lo**, and they are demanding justice.
"My brother is no gunman, the only thing him do is play football and give jokes, and it really sad how them come shoot him and said that he was wanted," remarked Marsha Hall, sister of the deceased.
Robbery reported
The police version is that at 10:45 p.m. they received reports of gunmen robbing persons in Linstead. When they visited the area, Hall and two other men fired at them. The shots were returned, they ran and Hall was later found cl**tching a home-made gun.
Investigators told THE STAR that Hall was wanted for shootings and murder. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe in the matter.
