ORLANDO, Fla. -- An 11-year-old girl mistakenly left behind during a field trip has prompted an investigation. The girl was visiting Orlando with a group from 21st Century Community Learning in Lakeland when she was left at the park. A program manager told WKMG-TV that the special-needs student was left behind when the children were forced to unload one bus and reload in a different area before leaving Epcot.
It was not until the bus made it back to Lakeland that the child was reported missing. "I started screaming and crying," the child's mother, Beverly Jackson, said. "(I) just said, 'God, return my baby.' The child could be lured and that's what I was afraid of." The girl was alone at Epcot for about three hours before park officials located her. She's back home with her family Thursday.
