Tropical Beach in White House, Montego Bay has been named the venue for this years start of Reggae Sumfest on Sunday, July 13. The event is geared towards whipping up fans in a frenzy for what awaits them in the week-long summer festival. A number of acts are yet to be inked, but the promoters have already contracted Classique Disco and Dangazone.
Munga Honourebel, Pressure and I-Octane have been added to the already strong lineup for the gruelling Dancehall Night which will unfold at the Catherine Hall Performing Centre on Thursday, July 17, 2008. The line-up is completed by Mavado, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Anthony B, Erup, Ninjaman, Macka Diamond, Elephant Man, Wayne Marshall, Voicemail, Demarco, Little Hero, Harry Toddler, Spice, Serani, Mr. Chumps and Shane O with the Live Wya contracted for backing duties.
It is anybodys guess as to what the final line-ups will look like. However, Fridays Singers Night (July 18) boasts top local artiste such as Richie Spice, Queen Ifrica, Buju Banton, Jah Cure and Courtney John.
The promoters have revealed that the overseas acts for Saturdays International Night (July 19) will be Chris Brown, Keisha Cole and Akon and the local names confirmed so far are Tarrus Riley, Etana and Brick And Lace. Top crooner Beres Hammond is now on the verge of signing to this line-up.
