An unidentified man is lucky to be alive after falling into the path of a subway train near Delancy Street.
NEW YORK -- A man who apparently fell from the subway platform at the Delancy Street station into the path of an approaching F train is recovering at Bellevue Hospital. Transit officials said the 55-year-old man, who has not been identified, was lucky not to be hit by the train Tuesday. The F train operator hit the brakes afer seeing the man tumble to the tracks, but two cars passed over him before the train stopped, officials said.
The man had landed in between the tracks and suffered only scrapes and bruises.
