JACKSONVILLE, FL -- In with other signs on the side of the road for used cars and yard sales, morning commuters on the Southside this week also saw a much different message.
James Payne saw a sign that said "Bourbon St. Whites Only" at an intersection along St. Johns Bluff Road and was shocked by the language.
"It definitely caught your eye, I mean it was really noticeable it was a big sign," says Payne.
The Bourbon Street Station night club is just up the road from where James saw the sign, but the connection was a mystery.
And a few hours later the sign was gone.
"You know, it made you a little bit angry, you kind of wonder who would do something like that, you think about this day and time there's not a place for something like that to be taking place," says Payne.
And there was a similar sign up and attracting attention the same morning but miles away in Arlington.
A woman there was so offended she pulled it off the stop sign it was attached to and turned it over to police.
First Coast News talked to the owner of Bourbon Street Station who says he thinks it's someone trying to sabotage his business.
He says he's getting calls from people asking about the signs and he's also contacted police.
James Payne says he hopes it doesn't happen again, because he's especially worried about kids seeing it.
