On Sunday at the weekly Passion Sundays dance held on Hillview Ave. in St. Andrew, dancehall deejay Beenieman hit out against the recent efforts by local law enforcement officials to ensure observance of Jamaicas Noise Abatement Act. The Act has been on Jamaicas law books for over 10 years now (since 1997), but largely ignored, until recent islandwide efforts by the police to enforce its weekend (2 a.m.) and weekday (12 midnight) cut-off times.
At Passion Sunday, Beenieman took the mic at around 1 a.m., and spoke for several minutes to patrons, complaining about the 2 a.m. cut-off time, and highlighting that music helps to keep youths off the streets. He said there may even be an increase in crime as a result of the over-zealous efforts to enforce the Act.

I dont mind the noise, but when u live in a community and the noise is keeping right next door to you and the people dem dont care about anyone and bucking the music, it really does affect other people in the neighbour who cant sleep. But as for other places that are not in an area where they are disturbing aresidental area, then it shouldnt cause a problem. But rules are rules, and such is life
