Tragedy struck the quiet community of Rosewell, Cla-rendon, on Tuesday night between 10:00 and 11:00, when 55-year-old Stanley Jarman was burnt to death in his two-bedroom board house.
Jarman, who was blind and lived with his son who is in his early 20s, was home alone as his son was in Old Harbour at a club with friends.
When the STAR visited the scene, Jarman's son said, "I was in Old Harbour at a go-go club when I received a call that my house was flat. I left immediately and when I arrived I saw the crowd and the house was already burnt out with my father lying with his face down and his legs and hands completely burnt off."
He added, "I don't know why someone would do this to us because I now lose my father and I have nowhere to live."
The police have not say what caused the fire. However, they would not rule out arson.
One resident said they were still in shock. "The community feel bad about the way his life come to an end because he was a peaceful man and will be missed by many," the resident said.
