Etana.jpgOne876entertainment has learned that promoter Worrell King was threatened by a member of Etanas entourage following the recent Western Consciousness show over the weekend. I was totally surprised by what happened, I couldnt even believe he was referring to me, Mr. King said. Mr. King did not elaborate on the wording of the threat. However, other reliable sources informed us that Mr. King was told bwoy like oonu fi get gunshot. The threat was repeated on more than one occasion, the source said. The incident arose from Kings inability to pay several artistes their full performance fees after the show ended. Mr. King said he had not paid Etana the full performance fee as set out in her contract but had undertaken to defray the expenses of her band and her backup singers. He was forced to take similar action with other artistes when it became obvious that he would not make enough money at the gate to cover the budgeted fees of the artistes. Other artistes who worked were not paid in full, and they never allowed anyone to disrespect me. Others just worked and told me it was alright Mr. King and they went home, Mr. King said. Efforts to get in touch with Etana, the Strong One, proved futile as no phone calls were returned. However, a representative of Solid Agency, which handles bookings for the artistes, responded on her behalf. The artiste has distanced herself from the comments made by the member of her entourage. It is unfortunate that one member of the entourage made a comment of this nature but there is no vibes or no animosity towards the promoter, the representative said. Etana's sophomore VP Records album, The Strong One, is due out in record stores soon.
