In a bid to refine her image and reinvent herself in the local marketplace, Portmore based female DJ Lisa Danger has changed her stage name to Lisamaria.
"I found the danger too dangerous, so I just leave it there where it belongs, on the gully banks, my new name is Lisamaria," she said.
And this neat bit of identity tweaking appears to be paying instant dividends.
She has been getting excellent rotation on IRIE FM with her new single "Can't Hold Us"on TETV Production label.
"It's working, right now, I am pleased with the response and it looks good for the summer," she said.
Lisa, back in the days when she was known by her last name 'Danger' scored a monster hit called "Ready Anytime" done in c****ination with French superstar Pier Poljak which appeared on an album which reportedly sold 3 million copies.
"It was done for Universal Records and it put me on the map in a way I have been able to tour Europe, the Caribbean and all over the world.
She has also done popular singles such as "Lolo Rastaquouere" done with Serge Gainsbourg & The I-Threes, as well as the counteraction to Junior Kelly's breakthrough hit which was dubbed "If You Really Care". She also scored a top ten hit called 'Answer the Call' in Trinidad.
Lisa has turned her attention to new projects such as her own stage show called 'Victory' which will be held in Manchester on May 17th and will feature heavyweight acts such as Bounty Killer, Sister Nancy and Lady G.
"This will be the first year of the show but hopefully it will be the first of many," she said.
