Early this morning around 4:37am people of the Midwest were awaken by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake rattled Chicago's skyscrapers and homes. The earthquake could be felt in Milwaukee, Des Moines, Iowa, and Atlanta, nearly 400 miles to the southeast.
'I could not go to sleep cause the house was shaking and stuff was moving" said 7 year old Chicago resident.
In a Southwest suburb of Chicago a man was awaken by the sound of cracking glass and pictures moving Mr. Fishman said that he is in the process of getting his roof redone and when he was awaken from his sleep and still a little groggy he thought that his contractors were jumping and banging on his roof but as he got his bearings together he noticed that his pictures and things on his nightstand were moving too and that is when he realized that this was an earthquake.
Officials were checking structures in downtown Chicago to make sure that there was no damage. Two aftershocks during the next three hours measured at 2.6 to 2.5
I myself noticed that some of the things on my side tables were moved just slightly but nothing major. I'm just so glad that no one was hurt during this earthquake.
