Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of serious and organised crime, Les Green yesterday made an appeal for persons having information in relation to any assets or property linked to the troubled Cash Plus Limited investment scheme to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud now surrounding the company.
The appeal was made at yesterday's press conference held at the office of the commissioner of police hours after former Cash Plus director, Carlos Hill, was arrested at his Norbrook Drive residence.
Public appeal
Green said: "I appeal for any persons with knowledge of any property of assets that may have been transferred, especially more recently to provide us with information." This, he said, would assist the police in identifying "where those assets may be in order that the depositors through Cash Plus Limited and through the receiver may be able to receive the amounts of money that may be able to be identified and recovered on their behalf."
He said overseas inquiries would be made during the course of the current investigation to trace assets, additional transfer of funds and other financial activities between Cash Plus Limited and depositors.
The officer said the police have been receiving numerous complaints from Cash Plus depositors alleging fraud on the part of the informal investment scheme.
Subsequent to these allegations, he said, "investigations revealed that 'the financial viability of Carlos Hill and his ability to repay that money was not available to be provided.'
