A woman who escaped from the St. Catherine based all female Fort Augusta prison has been recaptured.
Regina Lewis escaped custody while at a medical facility where she was being treated for an unspecified illness.
She was in the custody of a Senior Correctional Officer, when she escaped.
Head of Corrections Major Richard Reese told the RJR News Centre that Miss Lewis, who was serving nine months in custody for malicious destruction of property and possession of a chillum pipe, was captured by the Yallahs Police.
"She will be charged for escaping custody and go before the court for a determination to be made and then be returned to the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre to complete her sentence and any other sentence that may be handed down by the Court," he said.
Major Reese also confirmed that Miss Lewis was eligible for early release next month.
