Four students injured in crash

Four students were seriously injured in an accident which took place on the Dam Road in Johns Hall, St. James on Friday morning.

Reports are that at 11:45 a.m. a group of Maldon High School students were travelling in a Toyota Hiace minibus when the driver, who was apparently speeding, lost control the vehicle which ran off the road, crashed into a wooden house completely destroying the kitchen and then ran over a precipice.

Residents who saw and heard what happened quickly rushed down to remove the teenagers from the damaged vehicle. It is understood that one student suffered a broken back and anothers feet were fractured.
They were later taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital. Their condition was not known up to press time. The driver was taken into custody afterwards.
