A sting operation carried out by the Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.), the Negril police and the Hanover Special Squad early Thursday morning netted a bank robber who is wanted for a robbery at a New York City bank in the United States.
Arrested is forty-seven year old Donald Washington Gordon, otherwise called John Stern, who was being sought on a warrant by the state authorities. A report from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) explained that about 4:00 a.m, the (F.A.T.) team carried out an operation in the Delphland Bottom community of Little London, Westmoreland, where Gordon was held. Gordon has been a fugitive since the April 1997 incident, where he and three other persons reportedly robbed The Fleet Bank in Brooklyn, New York of approximately US$400,000.
He is scheduled to appear in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrates Court on Tuesday for extradition hearings.
